Community Impact Report
As the philanthropic arm of Brevard Public Schools, Brevard Schools Foundation is proud to help students achieve their educational goals and dreams and to help teachers become the best in their profession. Our community is made stronger when we invest in educational opportunities. Our students continue to prove, with their remarkable achievements, that this investment is a good one. Brevard Schools Foundation is committed to helping make an impact on all of the district’s 84 schools, 74,000 students, and nearly 5,000 teachers. Thank you for your contribution to that impact!
Foundation Program Results:
The ABC Awards – Our school district’s finest teachers, employees, volunteers, and administrators are honored in an entertaining Academy Awards-style show and elegant dinner held in January.
Back to School Supply Drive – With help from many community partners, backpacks and supplies were provided to nearly 2,000 children in need at a giveaway event held at Clearlake Middle School in late July/early August.
Bright Ideas Classroom Grants – The Foundation awarded 51 new projects totaling $52,084 and impacting over 9,400 students, which included 3,666 low-performing students. These grants allow for teachers to encourage innovation and creative projects that help learning come alive in the classroom. Since 2003, the program has awarded over 800 teachers with direct support Bright Ideas Classroom Grants valued at more than $700,000.
Scholarships for Graduating Seniors– The Foundation awarded 94 scholarships to deserving seniors, valued at over $102,000, helping make college more accessible and affordable.
Destination Space – To inspire our next generation of space scientists, engineers and explorers, nearly 5,500 sixth grade students traveled to Kennedy Space Center on a full-day study trip focused on STEM.
Supply Zone for Teachers – A store for teachers to receive free school supplies for their students and classrooms, the Supply Zone served more than 755 teachers from the highest poverty schools this year with 1,094 shopping trips made reaching 17,718 students. $484,382 worth of school supplies were distributed to those in need. The Supply Zone also reached a major milestone by giving away over $1,000,000 in free school supplies.
Take Stock in Children – A drop-out prevention, mentoring and scholarship program, Take Stock changes the lives of deserving low-income students in Brevard Public Schools. Our program again received a perfect score in the statewide accountability report (Balanced Scorecard), graduated 47 students, invested $206,541 in scholarships and accepted 45 new students into the program.
School Support – Directed more than $1,000,000 in contributions to students, teachers and schools.
