Helping Develop and Retain our Top Teachers
In the past three years, first day of school teacher vacancies have nearly doubled. The number of new teachers hired on a temporary certificate hit an all time high of 80% of all new teachers hired in 2023. The teacher shortage is real, which is why Brevard Schools Foundation supports the Teacher Leadership Council.
Council Members are some of our most motivated teacher leaders who want to develop themselves, support their peers, and share what they know beyond just their own classroom. Teachers helping teachers is one of the most powerful strategies for reducing the high cost of teacher turnover and more importantly, giving our students the best and brightest educators.
Brevard Schools Foundation serves as the backbone for the Teacher Leadership Council, providing funding for operations, special events and programs, such as the TLC Fellowship Program and Teacher Meet-Ups.
