Viera, FL – The Take Stock in Children program, a part of Brevard Schools Foundation (BSF), is hosting its 10th annual Reach for the Stars Gala on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Cocoa Beach.

Funds raised from this event ensure that the Take Stock in Children program can fulfill its mission of helping low income, at-risk students break the generational cycle of poverty by providing mentoring, education, and a 2-year college scholarship to make higher education possible for these students.

The Take Stock in Children of Brevard program has a 100% high school graduation rate. Along with the success of students involved in Take Stock in Children, the Brevard program has earned Gold Level standing, the highest award available for their impact in the lives of children.

The evening will kick-off with a cocktail hour and silent auction. Guests can bid on a wide-array of beautiful baskets featuring items such as restaurant and retail gift cards, travel and theme park tickets, wine and spirits, dazzling jewelry, home décor items, golf packages, sports memorabilia and more. The silent auction will remain open for on-line bidding as guests adjourn to the main dining room for a lovely dinner presented by the talented culinary team at the Hilton Garden Inn. Following a brief program, special guest auctioneer, Sheriff Wayne Ivey will fire-up the crowd with a live auction that will include fabulous travel, one-of-a-kind experiences, and unique items. Guests will cap off the evening with music and dancing.

“We are incredibly grateful to our Gala sponsors for their support of this event which raises vital dollars for our Take Stock in Children program,” said Janice Kershaw, BSF President/CEO. “Providing even more value to their already generous donation is that fact that all donations for this event are matched 100% by the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.”

Sponsors to date include:

“And of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing committee members who work diligently, behind-the-scenes for months in advance to ensure that this event is a complete success,” added Kershaw. Christine Tripp and Jim Clamons are co-chairing this year’s event. Other community members serving on the committee are Renee Barton, Rob Feltner, Tammy Gemmati, Jane Higgins, Brittnee Joseph, Keith Schachter, and Tracy Shepard.
