COCOA, FL – Pam Lyons joined the Brevard Schools Foundation as the program coordinator for the Supply Zone for Teachers, which provides school supplies for teachers in over 30 Brevard Public Schools. The program supports teachers and students in under-resourced communities where basic school supplies are unavailable.
Pam Lyons was born and raised in Brevard County, where she attended Brevard Public Schools. While attending Poinsett Middle School, now McNair Middle School, Pam discovered a love for basketball. Her hard work and dedication resulted in her earning a spot-on Rockledge High School varsity team as a freshman.
After graduating high school, Pam attended Brevard North College in Brevard, NC on a basketball scholarship. She later transferred to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL, where she took her talents to a new level as team captain. Her leadership skills extended beyond the court where she was a member and secretary on Black Student Union Board. Pam graduated from FAU with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Having found success as a student, an athlete and a person thanks to her mentors, Pam values youth mentorship programs. She took her passion on an 18-year career with the State of Florida-(HRS/DJJ) where she enjoyed working with troubled youth.
In 2006, Pam established a consulting business writing and managing grants. In addition, she created mentoring programs for nonprofit agencies. Pam has written, and obtained, grants of over a $1 million dollars for various organization and managed grants totaling more than $7 million dollars. While managing her consulting company Pam completed a master’s degree from Troy University.
Pam served as an instructor at Learning and Achievement Academy teaching third through seventh grade math. She served a vital role of the leadership team as the Student Accountability Coordinator. Among Pam’s list of accomplishments, she considers her best one her son, Brentin, who currently attends Eastern Florida State College as a Business Administration student, following in his mother’s footsteps.
