COCOA, FL – The Brevard Schools Foundation is accepting donations during the month of November for hurricane evacuees in Brevard Public Schools. More than 150 displaced children from Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, South Florida, and Texas have already entered the school district; this number continues to rise every day.
Items including hygiene products, new underwear and socks, gift cards for food, and school supplies are urgently needed. Donations can be dropped off at the Supply Zone at Clearlake Education Center, 1225 Clearlake Road, Cocoa through the end of November. Collected supplies will be packed into backpacks and distributed to all of the hurricane evacuees throughout the entire school district.
“These students and their families are facing unbelievable challenges,” said Elizabeth Schreiber, Supply Zone Program Manager. “Many have had to leave behind the majority of their belongings. Some are having trouble finding transportation or places to stay. By providing these pre-packed backpacks with supplies and other necessities, we hope to relieve at least some of their burden.”
