Brevard County Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullins was one of three statewide “Star” school district leaders in Florida recognized for their exemplary leadership by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (Consortium) at the 77th Annual Joint Conference of Florida School Boards Association and Florida Association of District School Superintendents November 30 in Tampa.
Local education foundation leaders from throughout the state nominate their superintendents and school board members for the annual awards for their leadership and involvement.
In nominating Dr. Mullins, community leaders cited his strong partnership with the Brevard Schools Foundation and hands-on leadership with district-wide teacher impact initiatives.
“Dr. Mullins has been 100% supportive of us since day one,” said Janice Kershaw, president of the Brevard Schools Foundation, in her letter of support for the nomination. “He has helped strengthen the relationship between the foundation and district, elevating our work in teacher leadership and development and providing us a platform to share our work with district leaders and the public.”
“We applaud school district leaders who make it a priority to foster private-sector support of public education through their local education foundations,” said Mary Chance, Consortium president. “This year’s recipients are outstanding examples of the many individuals who advocate for our local education foundations and help us raise more than $83 million annually to innovate learning and power the potential of students and teachers.”
