In her nomination award, Ms. Taylor was attributed to creating “a school climate that is congenial, professional and focused on professional learning communities.”
In addition to representing BPS at the state level competition for Florida’s Principal of the Year, Tara will also represent the school district for a second consecutive year in the Florida Commissioner’s Leadership Academy, serving this year as a facilitator for principals joining this group for the first time.
Jennifer Brockwell, a first-year principal at Oak Park Elementary, was nominated as this year’s Assistant Principal of the Year. Jennifer started her career with BPS as a teacher at Challenger 7 Elementary. Jennifer became the assistant principal at Challenger 7 in 2011, and she was recently promoted to the position of principal at Oak Park. Ms. Brockwell has continued to grow in instructional leadership, holding herself and others to standards of excellence.
In her nomination award, Jennifer Brockwell was described as an exemplary leader who “through leadership in data analysis, face-to-face feedback and follow up based on frequent informal observations, and collegial sharing of best practices, has led Challenger 7 in a year’s time to go from being at the bottom of the VAM list to one of the top schools in the district.”
Congratulations to both of these outstanding school leaders! BPS thanks you for your leadership and service.
