The foundation will distribute the supplies, including binders, file folders and staplers to teachers at 34 schools throughout Brevard County. Twenty of the institutions receiving the donation are Title I schools, recipients of federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education because the majority of students have low-income backgrounds.

“The idea to contribute to local schools was initiated by our employees,” said Rick Matthews, vice president and site manager. “The team’s efforts are just one more example of our commitment to the communities where we work and live.”

Linda Filippini, programs administrator with the Brevard School Foundation, said the items donated by Northrop Grumman will be put to immediate use. “Our teachers were in need of office supplies to help them organize science, technology, engineering and mathematics initiatives in the classroom this year,” she said.

The Brevard School Foundation is a key community partner of Melbourne’s Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence, which has approximately 1,200 employees in program management, engineering and technical work. The employees also serve as volunteers for the foundation and other community-based organizations.
