Two additional categories included Rookie Teacher of the Year (first year teachers) and Emerging Teacher of the Year (second year teachers). \nThe evening will begin with a reception at 5:00 p.m. with entertainment provided by musical groups from the Brevard Public Schools and live streamed interviews of honorees by Space Coast Daily. DESCRIPTION:The Brevard Public School’s Teacher Leadership Council will hold its annual Teacher of the Year Summit to kick off the ABC Awards Week. Invitations were sent to each school’s 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year as well as the 2021-2022 Rookie and Emerging teacher winners. \nThe Teacher Leadership Council works to promote teacher advocacy\, leadership\, communication\, and service throughout our school district by sponsoring special events\, communicating with teachers\, collaborating with district leadership\, and supporting new teachers. SUMMARY:3rd Annual Light the Lantern Hygiene Drive
DESCRIPTION:During this festive time of year\, many people focus on “extra” things in life. Unfortunately\, many children and teens in our community go without the most basic necessities. Things like toothpaste\, deodorant\, soap\, socks\, and feminine hygiene supplies are products that homeless and low-income families simply cannot afford. The heart-breaking results can be low self-esteem\, embarrassment\, and shame often leading to isolation and feelings of hopelessness for these youth. \nTo help alleviate this issue\, the 3rd Annual “Light the Lantern” hosted by Brevard Schools Foundation (BSF)\, along with The Viera Company and other community partners\, will be Thursday\, December 8 from 5-7 pm at the school board parking lot located at 2700 Judge Fran Jamison Way\, Viera. \n \nThe community can rally around this cause and bring donations of hygiene and personal products to this drive-through event. Participants will enjoy a luminary trail adorned with special holiday sparkle as they pull up to the drop-off location. \nSuggested items include new packages of soap\, shampoo\, deodorant\, toothpaste\, toothbrushes\, feminine hygiene products\, body wash\, and socks. Monetary donations will also be accepted. \nAll donated items will be distributed to students from low-income households or facing homelessness through the Supply Zone for Teachers\, a service of Brevard Schools Foundation. The Supply Zone for Teachers\, located in Cocoa\, serves the highest poverty schools in our county. \nMore information about the event can be found on Facebook at Light the Lantern 2022 \nYou can also make a monetary donation online.
