SUMMARY:Light the Lantern Hygiene Drive
DESCRIPTION:During this festive time of year\, many people are focused on “extra” things in life. Unfortunately\, there are many children and teens in our community who go without the most basic necessities. Things like toothpaste\, deodorant\, soap and feminine hygiene supplies are products that homeless and low-income families simply cannot afford. The heart-breaking results can be low self-esteem\, embarrassment and shame often leading to isolation and feelings of hopelessness for these youth. \nTo help alleviate this issue\, Brevard Schools Foundation (BSF)\, along with The Viera Company and other community partners\, are co-hosting a new event titled\, “Light the Lantern\,” on Thursday\, December 9 from 5-7 pm at the school board building located at 2700 Judge Fran Jamison Way\, Viera. \nParticipants will be treated to a luminary trail adorned with special holiday sparkle as they pull up to the contact-free drop off location. The first 50 donors will receive a free luminary to take home. \nSuggested items: \n\nsoap\nshampoo\nbody wash\ndeodorant\ntoothbrushes\ntoothpaste\nfeminine hygiene products\n\nMonetary donations will also be accepted. All donated items will be distributed to homeless and low-income students through the Supply Zone for Teachers\, located in Cocoa\, serving the highest poverty schools in our county. \nOther businesses and organizations supplying assistance to this event are Viera Community Institute\, Fairway Management\, iHeart Media and American Advertising Federation Space Coast. \nFor more information on “Light the Lantern” or how to donate hygiene supplies\, contact Elizabeth Schreiber at schreiber.elizabeth@brevardschools.org or 321-617-7727. \n

SUMMARY:Uno's Pizza Supply Zone for Teachers Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, March 20\, 2015\, the Brevard Schools Foundation’s Supply Zone for Teachers will partner with the Uno’s of Melbourne to raise money for local students and teachers in need. On this date\, we will host both lunch and dinner at the restaurant\, and a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Supply Zone. \nHere’s how it works: on the day of the Dough Raiser\, you can dine in\, get take out\, or make a bulk delivery order anytime between 11 am and midnight. When it’s time to pay for your food\, you willpresent your Dough Raiser Donation Ticket. A percentage of your check will be donated to the Supply Zone. If less than $1\,000 in sales is generated\, the Supply Zone will receive 15% of the earnings. If we can generate more than $1\,000 in sales\, the Supply Zone will receive 20% of the sales. \nRepresentatives from Brevard Schools Foundation will be present at the restaurant from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm and again from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. You can stop by during these times to learn more about the Supply Zone and to participate in a 50/50 raffle. \nYou have to eat\, so why not enjoy a delicious meal at Uno’s and support local schools at the same time?
