Organizational Highlights 2015-2016
- 23% increase in revenues between 2015 and 2016
- Ranked 8th in the nation for supporting public education.
- 11% increase in direct support to schools.
- 0% increase in administration.
Foundation Program Results:
The ABC Awards – Our school district’s finest teachers, employees, philanthropic partners, volunteers, and administrators are honored in an entertaining Academy Awards-style show and elegant reception catered by student culinary programs held in January.
Back to School Supply Drive – With help from many community partners, backpacks and supplies were provided to over 1,300 children in need at a giveaway event held at Clearlake Middle School in August.
Classroom Grants – The Foundation awarded 38 new projects totaling $39,904 for teachers to encourage innovation and creative projects that help learning come alive in the classroom. 73% reported improved teaching through the grant along with a 15% increase in the number of students served.
Scholarships for Graduating Seniors– The Foundation awarded 59 scholarships to deserving seniors valued at $53,000 helping make college more accessible and affordable.
School Support – Directed more than $1,000,000 in contributions to students, teachers and schools.
Space Week – To inspire our next generation of space scientists, engineers and explorers, nearly 5,500 sixth grade students traveled to Kennedy Space Center on a full-day study trip focused on STEM.
Supply Zone for Teachers – A store for teachers to receive free school supplies for their students and classrooms, the Supply Zone served more than 727 teachers from the highest poverty schools this year with 1,039 shopping trips made reaching 18,513 students. $406,488 worth of school supplies were distributed to those in need.
Take Stock in Children – A drop-out prevention, mentoring and scholarship program, Take Stock changes the lives of deserving low-income students in Brevard Public Schools. Our program received a perfect score in the statewide accountability report (Balanced Scorecard), graduated 43 students, invested $160,935 in scholarships and accepted more than 50 new students.
