BREVARD SCHOOLS FOUNDATION’S TSIC PROGRAM RECEIVES $5,000 FROM BANK OF AMERICA

Viera, FL – Brevard Schools Foundation recently received $5,000 from the Bank of America Foundation to support the Take Stock in Children (TSIC) scholarship & mentoring program for middle and high school students. “We are so appreciative of the generous and long-term support provided by the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. With their help, we are able to help change lives through scholarships, mentors and hope” said Amie Harris, Program Manager.

TSIC scholars are selected based upon financial need, academic achievement, good character and willingness to meet with a volunteer mentor. They have the additional benefit of the support of TSIC Program Manager Amie Harris and College Success Coaches Brenda Taylor and Susan Knowles, to ensure they graduate successfully from high school and are prepared to enter college.

TSIC scholarships are funded through community and individual donations such as Bank of America Foundation’s recent investment and currently are matched dollar for dollar through the Florida Prepaid College Foundation’s Stanley Tate Project STARS (Scholarship Tuition for At-Risk Students) Scholarship Program.

Mentors are being recruited for TSIC students and anyone interested in volunteering one hour each week on school campus should contact TSIC Mentor Coordinator Del Jordan at Jordan.Delbressa@brevardschools.org or 321-633-1000, ext. 415.

ABOUT TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN

The Take Stock in Children (TSIC) Program successfully prevents dropping out of high school and breaks the cycle of poverty by providing mentors, advocacy and college scholarships to Brevard County’s most underprivileged and at-risk students who demonstrate a commitment to learning.   It is the strategic mission of Take Stock in Children to reach more students through aggressive fundraising. Every scholarship dollar raised is generously matched through the Florida Pre-Paid Foundation Project STARS program. It is the Brevard Schools Foundation vision to provide scholarships to all qualified students wishing to improve their economic status by attending college.
