BREVARD COUNTY, FL – Brevard Schools Foundation will collect school supplies during the month of July to help the more than 37,000 students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch and request assistance. The public is invited to participate in donating supplies at designated drop-off locations throughout Brevard County, including any Brevard Public Library. Cash donations are also requested so items not received during the drive may be purchased. Sponsorships are also available. All financial donations are doubled through a matching funds grant provided by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.

“The number of families needing this extra help continues to rise,” said Executive Director Janice Kershaw, “and many are asking for the very first time. Thanks to our generous community, we will be able to make a difference for students again this year.”

The Foundation pre-registers qualified students and then holds a distribution event, its “Back to School Giveaway” on July 30 at Clearlake Education Center. This is the site of the Supply Zone for Teachers, a new program of the Brevard Schools Foundation that gives free supplies to teachers at schools with high poverty levels.
