Brevard Schools Foundation took home the “Supernova Award” and a $1,000 prize, given to a nonprofit for magnifying impact.  The award was announced during the inaugural Health First Stars of the Space Coast Awards that recognized the stellar work of nonprofits.  The Foundation cited its work in opening up the new Supply Zone for Teachers, a resource center where Brevard Public School teachers can shop for free school supplies needed for the classroom and for students who lack basic supplies.  The Supply Zone is in its first year of operation and depends upon community and corporate donations of school supplies and financial support.  Located at the Clearlake Education Center in Cocoa, the Supply Zone helps ensure students have the supplies they need to succeed academically while relieving the burden on teachers to personally provide what their students lack.  To learn more about the Supply Zone go to https://brevardschoolsfoundation.org/programs/supply-zone-for-teachers
